DESCRIPTION:The inventor of the flute\, A.R. Strathmann\, lives in a small town in northern\n\nGermany called Melsdorf. He started building these instruments in 1997 and\n\nmakes them by hand\, one at a time\, in his shop. He took a baroque instrument\,\n\nthe alto blockflute\, (or recorder)\, and designed a complete key system and\n\nacoustical improvements. The instrument sounds like a cross between a\n\nmodern flute\, a recorder\, and a pan fl ute. The concert will feature the instrument\n\nin 4 original compositions\, including a world premiere.
