Teams once are again forming for the Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing's annual Broomfield Brain Trust Trivia Challenge — a friendly competition that pits teams against each other to raise money for local nonprofits.
The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22 at The Chateaux at Fox Meadows, 13600 Xavier Lane. Space is limited to the first 30 teams and the cost to form one is $300. It includes dinner, snacks and soft drinks and access to a cash bar.
All proceeds will benefit more than a dozen local nonprofits, including Broomfield Community Foundation, A Precious Child, Stargate Charter School, Hope House, Peak to Peak Charter School and the Broomfield Housing Opportunity Coalition.
Money raised goes into the Rotary's principal fund. Each year, Rotary members assess needs for the nonprofits it assists, and then distributes money.
This is the third year Rotary has hosted the fundraiser. Individuals who don't want to compete are welcome to buy a $15 ticket, which includes pizza and soft drinks, and are invited to watch the fun.
Broomfield's iPie will supply the food for the evening.
The winning team — which last year was the Broomfield Veterans Memorial Museum team called GI Joes and A Jane — takes home a trophy.
In the past, trivia topics included national parks, inventions, animals, "planes, trains and automobiles," music through the decades and Colorado sports.
