Spanish Bilingual Outreach Children's Counselor, 30 Hrs/Wk

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provide counseling & support for mothers and children served through outreach services.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Responsible for intake and assessment of children for outreach services.
- Responsible for case management and goal setting for children.
- Interfaces with Child Protective Services; sits on Child Protection Review Teams and advocates for mothers and children involved in Child Protective Services.
- Facilitates outreach groups for children, i.e. activity/play groups and support groups.
- Provides counseling for mothers concerning parenting issues, child development and family issues.
- Facilitates parenting groups and consults with other staff regarding children?s issues.
- Supports an organizational environment based in respect, the utilization of ethical communication, and adherence to the organization?s non-negotiables.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Spanish Bilingual required.
- Minimum B.A. degree in human services, counseling, or related equivalent required.
- Knowledge/experience in counseling with children.
- Knowledge of developmental issues, trauma, parenting, and child abuse.
- Knowledge of domestic violence and battering issues, and of racial, class, and sexual orientation issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and community-building skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
